Barcelona to Host Historic Match at Partially Completed Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the still-under-construction Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months following their departure to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Not all seats will be available but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch under the licence granted. Once fully finished, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced completed upgrades featured a new players’ tunnel plus modern locker rooms.
Recent Activities
Barcelona held an open training session at the Camp Nou on 7 November. The club said approval is being pursued by UEFA to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December in the renovated venue. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
