Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Involving Player Rashee Rice

The NFL franchise issued a statement on Wednesday evening confirming they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and were in communication with the league office.

The team did not mention Rice specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

Claims Posted on Social Media

The woman, who also did not mention Rice directly, posted a series of photos on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were on file in the Kansas City suburb where the incident is said to have occurred.

Player's Prior Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that left multiple people hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, Rice concluded the season with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
