Reports indicate that original actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the next chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.
A Major Comeback for the Franchise
The actors will once again portray Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their cameos will probably be featured in a brief glimpse ahead, considering the main film series concluded with their characters married and with children.

Sunrise on the Reaping draws its story from a 2025 novel by series creator Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. Once again is Francis Lawrence, who has helmed the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set in the years leading up to the first Hunger Games, spotlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, later known as Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.
