Nigel Farage Claims Teachers of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Racial Topics
Nigel Farage has asserted that educators would initiate walkouts shortly after a success at the polls for his party, charging that they are “poisoning our kids” by telling children that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and Caucasian students are perpetrators.
During an event for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on the UK education system, stating that the “Marxist left” had “taken over schooling”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after securing a victory,” Farage commented during a Q&A session.
“They are corrupting young minds. They are telling them to feel guilt about their nation. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is a perpetrator. They are dividing us, not uniting us. They are feeding this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, the head of a major education union rejected the idea that the education system was controlled by Marxists as “nonsense”. He pointed out that industrial action must relate to educators’ working conditions, and doubted whether the party would target these right after taking office.
“Farage has built his public life on dog-whistle politics and currently, like Trump, he is targeting educators and their unions for a conflict,” the union leader said.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. Neither I nor our union – push critical race theory as he claims … Should he become prime minister he would sell out our public services, including education … and he would be a disaster for education and children.”
Reform, which tops surveys by about 10 points, has not set out much detail on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, Farage’s remarks suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We face an enormous task with education – absolutely herculean. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that gen Z was more open to critical thinking, but older youth were “completely lost”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, he commented: “All I want education to do to foster independent thought – to instruct people that there are two points of view and you make up your own mind rather than current practices where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
The party has conflicted with the UK’s largest teaching union, after the union leader labeled them “far right and racist” and dismissed Farage as “a cheap imitation”.
Farage has accused Kebede of being “a self-declared Marxist” … an individual intent that our children should be poisoned at school, their thinking tainted about everything to do with this country” and has argued that the union is trying to indoctrinate youth opposed to his party.
Almost one million people work in schools in the UK, about half of whom are teachers and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The leading teachers’ organization has hundreds of thousands of members.
National strikes over teacher pay and conditions in recent years led to significant interruptions in schools and millions of days of lost learning for children.
At the US event, Farage also pledged to help spread the online educational material of the institution in the UK. He said organizations like it were “key to resistance”, adding that: “I am serious. I will help garner hundreds of thousands, if not millions of youth to these educational programs. I make that commitment tonight and I’ll do that.”
The institution, a small private Christian college, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “A scientific, literary, theological, political, and moral education is vital for well-being and to perpetuate the blessings of civil and religious liberty. It offers these excellent programs for no charge to all who wish to learn.”
