Soccer Expert Sutton Takes On Artist Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's 10-game winning streak was ended by Sunderland before the global hiatus, however can the English top division frontrunners recover against local foes Tottenham this Sunday?

"{I believe like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs boss Thomas Frank will have a strategy for this match," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.

"Frank will attempt to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this season - but Mikel Arteta's team usually still find a way to win."

Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, against artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.

In week 12, he faces singer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

Murs' new album, the new release, is out on the weekend.

Football and Family Life

Murs is a skilled footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a star of several charity football games down the years - but he is not planning a professional return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a benefit match the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "The side was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they went on to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still isn't where I want it to be. I wish I could play more but the uncertainty of the sport means it's too risky for me in my career to do it seriously again.

"Additionally I am 41 now, and we are not all Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my daughter or son decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse Amelia Tank have two children, their daughter and Albert, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their manager.

"I won't push football on our children but I've previously told Amelia that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.

"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.

"My dad did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He managed our team for several seasons and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am looking forward to it!"

Premier League Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

Chelsea might have to wait a bit longer for their star's return from injury but their attack is now more potent with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

I still think this game will be quite tight, though. The Clarets are well organised and their sole home defeats so far have been against Liverpool and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all tie to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's forecast: 1-2

Olly's prediction: Chelsea will be superior. 1-3

AI's outlook: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

Bournemouth have been defeated in their past two matches - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Villa last time out which surprised me.

In contrast, West Ham won two in a row before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' only away win this campaign came at Nottingham Forest in August, when their manager Nuno Espirito Santo was still that team's coach.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers continuing their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what happened against Villa was a anomaly.

Sutton's forecast: 2-0

Olly's outlook: The home team are doing well but the visitors have improved under their boss. 2-2

The algorithm's pick: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were seen as one of the frontrunners for the drop before the campaign began, but they have surprised a several people under Keith Andrews and are in good form with three wins in their last four matches.

A family member told me to get Bees striker Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks ago and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.

Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or support the away side at Brighton's ground.

They have not had much success on the travel this season, and Brighton are always decent at their stadium. The visitors will try to hit them on the break but I feel Fabian Hurzeler's side pose much more of a threat.

Sutton's forecast: 2-1

The singer's view: This could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of goals but it actually turns out to be quite close. 1-1

AI's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

This is a huge fixture for the Cottagers, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

They have got lots of talent in their team but it nonetheless feels like they could be dragged into a drop zone battle.

Regarding Sunderland, well they are the unexpected success of the Premier League season so far.

Their performance in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team rough up the North London side like that this term, and they were more than a match for them.

The sensible thing would be to support the visitors here, because they are obviously able of roughing Fulham up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of last month.

But I am not choose that. Rather, I truly need to carry on opposing Sunderland with my predictions. I am claiming a lot of responsibility for their good results because they evidently enjoy to defy my predictions.

Looking at the home side's home record, the only side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Their manager's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to say they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's prediction: 1-0

The guest's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that the hosts are on a poor run... but Fulham have nonetheless been decent at Craven Cottage this season. 2-0

The algorithm's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a tough one to call. Liverpool have suffered seven of their last ten games in all competitions, but might they be among the sides who benefit from the {international break|
