The Streaming Platform is Developing a Far Cry TV Series from the Producers of the Alien Series and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest action-packed game that players experienced was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and debuted during October 6, 2021. In the game universe, it is famous for delighting in action and mayhem with similar enthusiasm, all while presenting engaging, ideologically themed stories. Little surprise that FX's recent announcement for a Far Cry anthology series pulled in two visionaries whose creations have embodied all of those qualities.
What to Expect
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game property, the self-contained anthology series will stream on Hulu and will be created by FX Productions. The series will also parallel the video games' structure by having a fresh location and group of personalities in subsequent series.
Key Producers
Rob Mac, mastermind of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the mind behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as executive producers on the series under their labels, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be joined by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding collaborations with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a collective six series and 32 seasons of television, and we couldn’t be more excited that they are teaming up for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is original, gripping, and incredibly entertaining. We also want to appreciate our collaborators at Ubisoft for placing confidence in us with this beloved property.”
What’s Next
Mac will also appear in the show, but as of now, we are unsure of what part that may be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was just approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the showrunner.
“Getting to work together with Noah Hawley is a goal achieved,” remarked Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been exceptionally generous, trusting us with one of the most iconic video-game worlds ever created. And along the way, my FX partners continues to lift me up with their ongoing trust and backing.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game series is that it’s an anthology program. Each game is a variation of a theme, the same way every run of Fargo is a adaptation on a story,” explained Hawley. “To develop a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always delving into the essence of society through this complex and chaotic lens, is a ultimate goal. I’m eager to collaborate with Rob and introduce our common bold, daring approach to the television.”
A time frame for when we can expect the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will premiere on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
