Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Deadly Road Accident

Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities confirmed on Wednesday evening. The fighter was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on December 29th, a tragic incident that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Healing from Light Wounds

Joshua had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, representatives stated earlier on Monday. The commissioner for information and strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on X that Joshua was declared medically stable to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” the official remarked.

Remembering the Victims

The victims of the crash were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. The official further stated that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”
